This very hard to come by microcontoller firmware chip has been fully tested and updated to the latest available v3.0.0 release from Mackie. It can be used to upgrade, or recover from a failed microcontroller firmware update, the following control surfaces and extenders:
- Mackie Control Universal Pro (MCU Pro) with P&G (Penny & Giles) faders
- Mackie Control Extender Pro (XT Pro) with P&G (Penny & Giles) faders
Mackie/HUI is a control surface protocol initially developed by Mackie and Digidesign for use with the Mackie Control Surfaces, like the Mackie Control Universal. The protocol was then adopted by many DAWs to allow compatibility with the hardware. The Mackie Control, and the Mackie Control Universal. Please note that this chip does not support the Mackie Control Universal/Extender Pro with firmware v4.x.x or higher which use ALPS fader. If in doubt as to which version you need, please contact me before purchasing, and I'm more than happy to assist!
Unofficially,this chip can also be used to upgrade the original Emagic/Mackie control / XT (v1.x.x/v2.x.x firmwares) controllers to the v3.0.0 MCU Pro firmware, something that is not possible by MIDI based firmware update. The following controllers and extenders are all supported:
- Emagic Logic Control
- Logic Control Extender (XT)
- Mackie Control
- Mackie Control Extender (XT)
- Mackie Control Universal
- Mackie Control Universal Extender (XT)
Note that if you'd prefer to replace/upgrade an original Mackie control surface/extender with a microcontroller/firmware chip from a non-pro Mackie controller, See my other listing for the v2.1.2 chip!
As well as adding HUI mode support (for Avid Pro Tools) not present in v1.x.x firmwares, the latest firmware addresses all known bugs and contains the latest fader calibration/drive routines to give sticky faders a greater chance of calibrating successfully, saving costly fader service/replacement
