Three things of note: The earliest Boss Tones had transistors of different polarity (one pnp, one npn) while the later ones use two transistors of the same polarity. The other good thing about all the Boss Tones is that they were a truebypass device, meaning they would have no tonal alteration whatsoever when they weren't switched on. In addition, they seem to work better (read: sound 'smoother') with a 9v battery that is almost 'dead' (6v or less). |

This one, I think, is the original model.
